Dungeon Master Manual

State of the Dungeon
Currently the dungeon program is only set up to handle rooms. Monstors, armor, spells, weapons, and shops will come later. The Dungeon is now open for building!. If you would like to build your dungeon, feel free to go ahead now! The person that builds the best Dungeon Zone will get a free year of dungeon hosting!

GET STARTED!!!
In order to get started building your Dungeon Zone, email the Supreme Dungeon Master at craigh01@gmail.com He will email you back your Dungeon Master Password and the Zone you will be working on.

Dungeon Hosting
aaagames.com will be offering Dungeon Hosting. This means you can have your own dungeon which starts out on your own web page!

Types of Dungeons
You don't have to do the same old "hack-and-slash" type of dungeon! This system is extremely flexible. Your dungeon can be any theme you want, from Star Trek, to Pokemon, to the Wild West, even Adult Oriented! Of course, the tried-and true D&D hack and slash type is fine too!

Zones
When you start building your dungeon, you will be assigned a zone. This will separate your dungeon rooms from everyone else's. To avoid having aaagames.com users see incomplete or lousy dungeons, your zone will be invisible to other users, until you request, and the Supreme Dungeon Master grants, approval to "turn on" your zone. At that point, your dungeon will be "open to the public"!

Room Layout
Currently, all you can build is the rooms. Later the ability to add shops, monstors, etc will come on-line. What you want to do is lay out the basic structure of your dungeon. Set up the rooms and which direction they go. For example, the "North Gates of the Castle" may go south to "A cobblestone path". South from there might lead to the "RamsHead Inn". East from the Inn might be a path that leads to "Torgul's Weapons Shop". Build your rooms with the descriptions you want. Later, you'll put the shop and the shopkeeper in the desired room.

Adding Your First Room
The first screen will ask you for a room number and your Dungeon Master Password. Just put in your password and hit ENTER. On your first entry, you will go straight into "add" mode. The fields you will enter are:

Room Number: This is the 5-digit number of your room. Our dungeon can support up to 99,999 rooms. The room number will be automatically assigned. You should jot down this room number, so that you can link back to it from other rooms.

Description: The title of this room, such as "A grassy path", or "Gandalf's house of Magic"

Text: This is the text of the room that will be displayed. This should be a nice description of the room, along with any hints you want to give the player. For example "The Tavern is full of the usual bunch of roudy customers, travellers, and thieves". NOTE: You CAN use HTML tags in your description! HTML tags are enclosed in carets: < and >. I can't show you them here, so I'll replace the carets (< and >) with brackets ([ and ]). So for example, (but really with the carets) turns on BOLD, and turns it off. turns in Italics, and turns them off. turns on underlining, and turns it off, and so on...

Directions North, South, Northeast, etc are all directions pointing to another room. Put the room number you want to go to from this direction. If "you can't go that way", just leave it blank. You can put a non-existent room number in here! The assumption is you will be creating the room later. If you never get around to creating that room, the player will see a message "that way seems to be blocked". This will clue you in that you have forgotten to create a room that you linked to.

That's all, Folks!
This should be enough to get you started on your dungeon. As we add more features, such as shopkeepers and spells, this manual will get bigger and bigger (actually, it will probably be Huge!.
